Iranian handicrafts to glitter at Aichi Expo 2005

TEHRAN, Feb. 4 (MNA) -- The works of fifteen groups of Iranian artists and artisans skilled in various fields of handicrafts are to be put on display for six months at the Aichi Expo 2005 in Japan.

Vida Tavahodi, the Iranian Handicrafts Organization’s director for holding exhibitions, said on Friday that Iranian artists and artisans will be participating in the exhibition on the Japanese island of Aichi, which begins on March 25.

The Handicrafts Organization aims to introduce the world to Iranian art and life through various symbols and traditions depicted in handicrafts that will be on display in this year’s exhibition, which has the sub-theme “The Art of Life”.

“We have tried to select veteran female artists from each province, since women can show Iranian art and culture much better through their various kinds of colorful costumes,” she added.

Various Iranian artworks and handicrafts such as intarsia, miniature, embroidery, inlaid enameling, embossing, and earthenware will be put on display in Aichi.

Artists and artisans from across the globe will be participating in EXPO 2005.
